at the local community level"

Mission Statement

DMS Foundation’s mission is to reduce the human, social, economic, cultural and environmental losses from natural and man-made disasters that occur repetitively in communities world-wide and who lack the means to develop these programs on their own.

DMS creates “partnerships for success” between local governments and the communities that they serve, providing them with the training and education, materials, equipment, technology and infrastructure support to maintain and initiate proactive disaster mitigation measures.

This is achieved through technological innovation, in the first instance the creation of job opportunities at home as well as in the recipient communities through social entrepreneurism and the creation of economic models that guarantee the long-term sustainability of the DMS program.

DMS is funded through its membership network, fundraising campaigns and from syndicated humanitarian and philanthropic organizations and other charities including both public and private corporate donors that support the principles of good governance and emergency preparedness programs that mitigate losses caused by natural and man-made disasters everywhere.

Goals & Objectives

1. Promote planning and prevention efforts to reduce the human, economic and environmental costs of natural and man-made disasters.

2. Provide local communities prone to disaster with the means to help themselves through community capacity building.

3. To integrate technologies, systems and equipment from world-wide markets that provide superior disaster mitigation solutions.

4. To provide community-based programs to combat the spread of HIV, malaria and other contagious diseases and the propagation of breeding grounds for the spread of pandemics in at-risk communities everywhere.

5. Provide humanitarian funds to disaster-prone communities with a means to insure their financial assistance is directed into effective disaster mitigation programs without dilution into other local programs.

DMS “partnerships for success” emphasizes planning, prevention and proactive measures. The communities are supported with the provision of training and education, technology, equipment and know-how. DMS seeks to train and equip these communities to protect themselves from natural and man-made disasters. DMS underwrites the capital and operating costs of these centers, rather than providing financial aid directly to communities to spend as they see fit. In this way DMS insures that its objectives, and therefore the donors who support DMS, are met. The Board of Directors and staff of DMS Foundation are committed to bringing its financial resources and expertise to bear and executing its mission on a proactive basis to needy, disaster-prone communities’ that span the globe. DMS Foundation’s mission emphasizes prevention and education, but will also provide emergency relief, rescue and recovery services 24/7/365 anywhere in the world. The problem with natural and man-made disasters is never if it will happen, but rather when. Predicting these or at least being prepared for them is fundamental to DMS Foundation’s mission, goals and objectives.
